Love Story: Never Too Late ITV 1972 Douglas Wilmer and Wendy Hiller

In Never Too Late the ageing Ariadne Lewis meets retired General Sir Roger Burroughs and the pair discover that even though they have nothing in common and may be getting on in years it’s never too late to find love.

There was a two page TV Times feature looking back at the career of star Wendy Hiller, who aged up to play Ariadne, Hiller had a prominent film and stage career having made her breakthrough on stage in Love on the Dole and then being taken under the wing of George Bernard Shaw for lead roles in Saint Joan, Pygmaliion and Major Barbara. She also won an Oscar for her role in 1958’s Separate Tables. The article also touched upon the early days of live TV when play performances went out live and would be restaged a few days later (“And we got paid twice for it!”)
