Love Story: Third Party (S9EP2 ITV Tues 8 Feb 1972, John Neville, Angela Thorne)

Love Story: Third Party ITV 8 Feb 1972 Jack Watling and John Neville

In Third Party Andrew is an urbane TV chat show who is juggling the demands of both wife and mistress. Although at times it makes for difficult moments for the women in his life Andrew is convinced it is his involvement with more than one woman that keeps him going onscreen.

The TV Times of the week featured a three page feature at home with Jack Watling, The article mostly focused on his earlier work and the fact that his children were all following him into the business. The Watling home was the somewhat grand Alderton Hall, an Elizabethan manor house.

There was also a short piece on John Neville focusing on his long term marriage to former actress Caroline Hooper. They wed in 1949 and by this stage had six children, three of them adopted and “coloured”. Neville talked about appearing on Simon Dee’s chat show alongside Honor Blackman, who also had adopted children, and Dee raising the topic and Neville not being keen to talk about it.
