In Two Tame Oats two couples, The Spriggs and the Truscotts, have shared a strong friendship for many years but lately Pat Spriggs and Stan Truscott have been getting closer than just good friends.
There was a short piece in the weeks TV Times on co-star Tony Melody who was pleased that he was getting a chance at a straight after a long run of comedy parts. Even in comedy roles Melody did tend to specialise in those middle-aged, middle-class married men type roles he is playing here.
Diana Coupland, who starred as Pat Spriggs had also appeared in The Suitcase, the opening episode of season nine a year earlier. Thelma Barlow who plays Doreen Truscott is best known for her very long running role as Mavis Riley in Coronation Street.
