MasterChef: Episode 23 airs Wednesday 31 May 2023 on BBC One
The final four contestants face off in the next-to-last episode for the honour of competing in Chef’s Table, one of the show’s most recognisable challenges.
Only one challenge, their rendition of a classic dish, stands between them and the final three spots. This is their final opportunity to demonstrate to judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace that they have what it takes to advance to the championship round. One of the four finalists’ journeys will end in this high-stakes cooking competition.
The surviving trio must stay on their toes as they travel to the heart of London to take advantage of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work at the three-Michelin-starred Core, run by one of the most renowned chefs in the world, Clare Smyth MBE, who learned her trade under the tutelage of culinary forerunners Gordon Ramsay and Alain Ducasse.
After opening Core in 2017, Clare received the highest honour in the culinary world in just three years for serving the finest British gastronomy with simple, nostalgic ingredients and an undeniable signature of her own personal flair and skill in the kitchen.
Each of the three finalists will tackle one of Clare’s most breathtaking creations for a lunch with some of the world’s best chefs, including Sat Bains, Tom Kitchin, Jonny Lake, and Nieves Barragán Mohacho.
Is the pressure too much for our three amateurs, or can they pull through and achieve a three-Michelin-star standard?
Season 19 Episode 23
John Torode and Gregg Wallace are looking for the country’s next star chef. Those who make it through to the quarter-final must prove their knowledge and passion for food. The heats have produced four exceptional cooks, but only one of them will make it through today to become a semi-finalist. Initially named Masterchef Goes Large, the series changed it’s name to Masterchef in 2008.
