Mike and Bernie: A Little Bit on the Side (S1EP5 ITV Tues 11 Jan 1972, Bernard Spear)

Mike and Bernie ITV 1971

In A Little Bit on the Side, Mike and Bernie have managed to talk Lionel Ross (self styled “Lew Grade of Lewisham’) into representing them. With the real possibility of proper work Bernie manages to scupper things before they even get started.

There is another appearance from Billy Dainty as himself whilst character actor Bernard Spear is Lionel Ross. Spear often played stereotypical Jewish roles but was always good value. He began his TV career in 1956 and although he didn’t score too many lead roles he did take the main role in short lived 1975 sitcom My Son Reuben.
