Wednesday, Nov. 9: THE RIGHT TO READ: WHO DECIDES?: Tamron hosts a discussion surrounding the increased book bans across the country and kicks off the conversation with GEORGE M. JOHNSON, the author of “All Boys Aren’t Blue,” which has been banned in at least 14 states. Then, TIFFANY JUSTICE and PAMELA MACEK give their perspective as mothers on why explicit materials should be removed from school libraries. Also, NADRA OSTROM joins the conversation with her surprising reason she thinks some classic books like “Huckleberry Finn” should be removed from classrooms. Teacher ADAM TRITT explains the books he wanted to teach in his curriculum were banned, causing him to become an activist. Later, former teacher SUMMER BOISMIER tells her story of actively protesting an Oklahoma bill which would ban schools from teaching anything that suggests a student could feel discomfort when it comes to topics of race or sex.
