Join renowned author and conservationist Tim Winton as he discusses the decisions that led to Ningaloo being designated as a cultural landscape and receiving world-class management. He discusses past blunders like the whaling industry and the turtle fishery in Ningaloo, as well as future difficulties.

Freediving amongst Coral Spawn is among tonight’s featured highlights. Tim has been freediving for six nights under a waning moon, and now he’s filming underwater in the dark as life rains down upon the reef. He sees the reef’s vulnerability up close once again as he witnesses the reproductive splendour of this yearly phenomenon.

Bringing Loggerhead Turtles back home. These baby loggerhead turtles were rescued from the cold ocean after being swept thousands of kilometres from the warm tropics. Tim releases 40 of these juveniles into the waters of Ningaloo so they can continue their epic journeys across the Indian Ocean after taking them out past the powerful Leeuwin Current.
