The American century, which we were living in at the time, has fallen apart over the past three decades. Was Welsh’s dystopian future not bleak enough? And have the poorest people in this increasingly unequal world paid the highest price?
With the looming federal budget, struggling households, and no relief in sight from the cost-of-living crisis, the question becomes how much aid the government will provide to those in need.
It appears that a nationwide JobSeeker bonus is out of the question, but there will be help for the economically disadvantaged in Australia. Will it be adequate to improve their situation?
At the same time, Charles is becoming King; will this new monarchy spark renewed republican fervour? Will the coronation turn people against the monarchy, or bring them closer to it?
