Race Across the World Episode 2 (BBC One Wednesday 29 March 2023)

Today Wednesday 29 March 2023, there is a new episode of Race Across the World.

Episode 2 The five teams of two continue their journey from Haida Gwaii, an indigenous island in the Canadian territory of the Yukon, to Dawson City, a former boom town founded during the Klondike gold rush of 1898 and the race’s second checkpoint.

In order to reach Dawson, one must travel over 2,000 kilometres north along one of the world’s most isolated highways, with only the occasional tiny settlement or truck stop breaking up the immense wilderness. The racers must make their way through areas with little to no public transportation, such as thick woods and expansive ice fields.

The first ones to depart are Claudia and her dad, Kevin. After blowing their travel money on an expensive taxi ride, they decide to rough it and travel by carpool and camping. Cathie, who admits to being a control freak, was nervous about going on this trip with her best companion Tricia because they would have to rely on each other. Zainib and Mobeen, a married pair, plan to get a ride to the border from a stranger in the hopes of saving money and making it to Dawson City in one piece.

The leg gets off to a rough start when Monique, who had never possessed a backpack before leaving Vancouver, is forced to camp for the first time. The already tense situation between estranged brothers Marc and Michael escalates when Marc’s dread of bears prompts an argument. After getting off to a sluggish start, they decide to attempt a new tactic and put more emphasis on developing their brotherhood than on the race itself.

Season 3 Episode 2

Race Across the World will pit pairs of travellers against each other in a race to reach the Far East without taking a single flight, with no smartphone in sight. Each contestant will only have the cash equivalent of an air fare to their destination to pay for their overland travel. If they run out, they’ll need to earn more.
