It was shocking to see a young, fit athlete collapse suddenly from cardiac arrest. And yet, more than a hundred high school athletes die each year from abrupt cardiac arrest. These incidents typically have terrible outcomes because just 16 states require the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) at high school sporting events.Soledad O’Brien reports. Shooting Survivors (Update): Reichen Posey and Jordan Murphy, both of whom had survived mass shootings but found common ground in football, were first introduced to the REAL SPORTS cameras five years ago.   Posey is now a 6’2″ 240-pound defensive end who had a stellar junior season at Murphy’s alma mater, where Murphy also serves as an assistant coach.Soledad O’Brien reports. Bryant Gumbel hosts this investigative sports newsmagazine series that features in-depth reports from "Real Sports" correspondents Mary Carillo, Bernard Goldberg, Frank Deford, Soledad O’Brien, Andrea Kremer, Jon Frankel and Gumbel himself. The series airs monthly, and each hourlong edition contains four segments. Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel has won multiple Sports Emmy Awards and in 2006 became the first sports program honored with the duPont Award for excellence in broadcast journalism by Columbia University.
