What is this episode about

Margaret Wright, played by Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden, is a sharp, meticulous lawyer who employs her talented but scruffy, aimless son, Todd (Skyler Astin), as an in-house investigator for the firm.

Todd, the prodigal son of the wealthy Wright family, is an excellent, easygoing private investigator who got fired for stretching the truth and thus fell on hard times. Margaret’s obsession with perfection and lawfulness stands in stark contrast to Todd’s tendency to fly by the seat of his wrinkled trousers.

In the pilot, when Todd unwittingly works with his mother on a case, she is impressed by and proud of his ability to use his charisma and technological prowess to uncover crucial clues.
