Suspicion: Plain Jane (Series Premiere ITV Tues 23 Nov 1971)
In Plain Jane, the opening episode of anthology series Suspicion, sixteen year old Jane Belman (the plain Jane of the title), is convinced that she is being stalked by a middle aged man. Her parents think she is being melodramatic but is she…
Sara Clee, who played Jane, made numerous appearances in shows from the seventies onward (she had the co-lead in well remembered teen drama The Siege of Golden Hill). Her parents were played by Paul Eddington and Katharine Blake (who a couple of years later would have a season as Governor in charge in Within These Walls). The rest of the strong cast also included Mark Eden, Tony Steedman and the excellent Marjorie Yates.
Katharine Blake also had a two page feature in the weeks TV Times as part of their All My Yesterdays series where stars looked back on their career, talking about various photographs and what stage their career was at at the time. Despite growing up in Scotland Blake spent the early part of her professional career working in TV in Canada.
