What is this episode about
Charles and Dodi’s son, Fayed, and Diana’s husband, Charles, hear the tragic news and independently travel to Paris to oversee funeral preparations. The tragedy causes a widespread display of public sorrow, which takes the Queen by surprise. As she stays in Balmoral, public outrage grows over the royal family’s perceived callousness and her prolonged absence from London.
In light of their precarious situation, Charles urges the Queen to break with traditional protocol and make herself more accessible to the public. Fayed is mourning the loss of his son at the same time that news of Diana’s death is reverberating through the Palace. He had hoped that the Royal Family would come closer to him in their time of mourning, but instead he is being increasingly shunned.
