Wessex Tales BBC 1973

In Fellow Townsmen we see the contrasting fortunes of two men, one unhappily married, the other happily so.

At the time Kenneth Haigh was easily one of the most popular actors on TV thanks to his take no prisoners role as Joe Lampton in ITV’s Man at the Top. He also had a Beatles link to co-star Jane Asher who famously had spent much of the 1960’s as the girlfriend of Paul McCartney. Haigh had appeared in the first Beatles movie A Hard Days Night as the TV producer who is looking for “an early clue to the new direction.” There was another rock music connection in the cast too with a role for Susan Fleetwood (she is the sister of Fleetwood Mac drummer Mick Fleetwood).
