What’s Happening on The Repair Shop Today Wednesday 16 November on BBC One; Suzie Fletcher, a multi-talented woman, is delighted to meet Chris Roberts, learn about his and his dear uncle’s firefighting careers, and do her best to restore the fire helmet that Clive gave Chris as a young boy. Chris, a five-year-old, vowed to follow in his uncle’s footsteps and join the fire service the moment he put this helmet on, and he did so. Since Chris and his uncle Clive had always been close, Clive’s unexpected death was difficult for Chris. Chris wants Suzie to fix the helmet in his honour, but it’s damaged, cracked, and difficult to fix. Suzie takes on the challenge unfazed.
Jenny Darling enters the barn next with her father’s first electric guitar in the hopes that luthier Julyan Wallis will work on it. The iconic Futurama guitar from the 1960s has been out of commission for years, but Jenny’s father Tony just couldn’t let it go. He has a soft spot for the guitar and is a huge guitar enthusiast who has spent most of his life playing in bands. Jenny promised she would find a solution, but life got in the way, the years passed, and nothing happened—until now. Dominic Chinea and Steve Fletcher are called upon by Julyan to assist him in creating the numerous missing parts that are no longer produced.
The last visitor is Aileen Neilson, who is accompanied by a cute dog who helped her recover from a major operation more than 50 years ago. Aileen was recovering from a spinal operation when Barney, the push-along dog, helped her stand up again when she was only two years old. He belonged to the hospital, but when the staff observed how much Aileen loved him and how much he helped her, they gave him to her as a gift. He has persisted in charming every child in Aileen’s extended family, but he now needs some personal healing. He is threadbare in some places, has a protruding internal frame, and is missing one of his eyes and his tail. He is rescued by soft toy restorers Julie Tatchell and Amanda Middleditch, who will bring him back to his best.
