Within These Walls: Transfer (ITV 27 Nov 1976, with Caroline Mortimer)

In Transfer Helen Forrester is not happy when the secret service transfer inmate Marian Robertson into the care of Stone Park. Marian has been sentenced to 210 years obviously meaning that she will never be released from prison. Under pressure Helen reveals that Marian held a very high position in British Intelligence but was also spying for the Russians.

There is quite an unusual atmosphere throughout this episode, large portions are devoted to small talk between the rest of the prisoners on Marian’s wing. It’s all curiously flat and even feels somewhat improvised. The staff all seem out of sorts too, it’s almost like they are living in the tropics and waiting for the monsoon to break.
