Within These Walls: The Keys (ITV 11 Oct 1975, with Maureen Sweeney)

Published

on

Googie Withers

In The Keys prison officer Mrs Pinner is unsettling both the inmates and her fellow officers with her overbearing and petty ways. She is constantly putting people on report for the tiniest of indiscretions and causing trouble for her fellow officers. Janet Harker, whose wing she is on, wants her transferred elsewhere, preferably out of the prison service all together.

Faye is sure that there is more to Mrs Pinner’s mood than appears and we learn that she and her husband have major issues to get through over the lack of children in their marriage.

This episode sees the return of Janet Harker, at the end of the second season she had a decision to make, whether to marry (Dr Richard Green, played by Paul Darrow, who was married to Janet Lees Price at the time of the series, the pair in fact stayed married until Janet’s death in 2012)
