Who’s Who in Season 2 of Cobra
PRIME MINISTER ROBERT SUTHERLAND (ROBERT CARLYLE)
A charismatic leader, driven by a desire to do what’s right for his country and his family. When disaster strikes through a new, invisible threat, he will fight chaos and misinformation not only on the streets of the UK, but also within the corridors of Whitehall. With relationships in disarray and dissent amongst the ranks, Sutherland will be pushed to make a crucial decision about what is more important in leadership, strength and control, or liberty and honesty. It is a decision which will threaten to upend not only his life, but the country to which he has dedicated it
ANNA MARSHALL (VICTORIA HAMILTON)
The PM’s brilliantly intelligent Chief of Staff finds her home life in disarray and throws herself into her work. With a divided nation in the grips of chaos and the return of old foe Archie to the corridors of Whitehall, Anna now finds her relationship with the Prime Minister close to breaking point. As they battle a new and insidious enemy, Anna’s faith in Robert will be put to the ultimate test, while the solace she finds with friend and ally Francine Bridge is threatened by the identity politics of a fractured country.
FOREIGN SECRETARY ARCHIE GLOVER-MORGAN (DAVID HAIG)
Ambitious, argumentative and not afraid to shout an unpopular view from the rooftops, a tendency which has seen Archie forced from his position in government. So, when disaster strikes and the Prime Minister calls once more on Archie’s support, Archie will accept. While his complex relationship with the Prime Minister is built on mutual respect, Archie will seize any opportunity for more power if such a chance presents itself, and in the ever shiting political landscape of modern Britain, Archie sees chances aplenty
FRASER WALKER (RICHARD DORMER)
One of the best crisis contingency planners the country has ever known. While his ability to overcome and tackle problems in his professional life comes as second nature, he’s not been so adept in his personal life. When fresh disaster unfolds on the streets of the UK, Fraser and his team find themselves once more on the frontline, fighting a battle on a more complex and shifting ground than ever before.
FRANCINE BRIDGE (MARSHA THOMASON)
After her rejection of the Conservatives, Francine is welcomed back into the fold of the Labour Party who once unfairly ousted her. Encouraged by fighting talk of new leader Chris Edwards, Francine will capitalise on the current crises and take the battle to the ailing government. But as this passionate and principled political mind is forced to engage in a new and insidious form of politics, Francine begins to suspect that she may unwittingly have become a pawn in a shadowy game, the terrifying stakes of which are only just starting to become clear.
HOME SECRETARY (JOSEPH OBASI)
The new Home Secretary. Incredibly smart, dry, carefully tailored and not given to a great deal of levity. Obasi arrives at a time when his confidence and ease are desperately needed – but as our series progresses and Obasi’s skill at handling the unfolding crises bring him favour and attention from a public whose faith in the government is at an all time low. Sutherland might start to suspect there might be a grander game Mr Obasi is playing, one in which the end prize could be the top job
ELEANOR JAMES (LISA PALFREY)
Head of the Joint Intelligence Committee, Eleanor James is a sharp political thinker determined to keep national security at the forefront of all decisions. But now faced with a new and invisible foe, Eleanor finds herself in a new position: blindsided, and on the back foot. Under immense pressure from the PM and demands of COBRA, Eleanor is determined not to be overcome by this complex modern enemy
CHRIS EDWARDS (ANDREW BUCHAN)
The young, principled new leader of the Labour Party, Edwards is quick to call out injustice and holds the genuine belief that his party would be a better fit to serve the interests of the country, if only it could win an election. To this aim, he maintains a conscious awareness of his party’s image, and is therefore delighted to have Francine Bridge back in his ranks. She represents the smart, competent and front-footed energy he is keen to demonstrate, but as a pragmatic opportunist, Edwards will weaponise anything he can with Francine in order to win the Kent By-Election.
HARI MISRA (KARAN GILL)
A smart, confident journalist, broadcaster and presenter, Hari has a cocky attitude but a finger firmly on the pulse of the nation. This makes him a powerful ally for Francine, a relationship that he hopes he will be able to further beyond the professional. But as a mysterious source begins to feed him pivotal information to rock the already fractured political landscape of the nation, Hari may find himself an unwitting pawn in a game with stakes and consequences far greater and darker than he could ever have imagined.
RACHEL SUTHERLAND (LUCY COHU)
Audrey Hemmings is a cheerful, resolute and hard working new addition to Fraser’s team with an immense inner strength and resolve which is tested early on and quickly secures her position as Fraser’s number two. This is a position which will see her endurance and resolve pushed to the limits as our series’ calamities unfold, and as Audrey finds herself with Fraser fighting on the front lines.
