Shrill Season 2 on Hulu: Annie is back (and embracing her new life)
Always determined to get what she wants, Annie is back on Hulu with season 2 of Shrill which arrived on the streaming platform Friday January 24.
As a reminder, Shrill is based on the novel Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman by Lindy West. The comedy follows Annie (Aidy Bryant), an overweight young woman who wants to change her life – but not her body.
Annie tries to break through as a journalist while juggling a toxic boyfriend, sick parents and a perfectionist boss, not to mention the fact that everyone around her seems to believe that she is not good enough to accomplish what she wants because of her weight. She begins to realize that it is not true, that she has what it takes to succeed and she begins to act accordingly.
Now that she has regained self-confidence and control, Annie discovers that the life she wanted with Ryan, her friends, her family and her own career is not exactly what she imagined. Annie’s journey therefore continues after she left her job following a confrontation with a troll on the internet and confronts the fact that sacrificing her salary for a question of integrity was perhaps a hasty choice. In addition, Annie’s relationship is at a turning point, her ambitions colliding with Ryan’s slacker life.
Season two of Shrill, which this time includes 8 episodes, brings together Aidy Bryant, Lolly Adefope, Luka Jones, Ian Owens, John Cameron Mitchell and Julia Sweeney to its cast.
