‘Allo ‘Allo actress Vicki Michelle has revealed she is going on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! to ‘big up’ older women.
And the star, who is best known for her role as the sexy waitress Yvette Carte-Blanche in the hit television comedy, says she is determined to be brave in the jungle.

Vicki, who has also starred in Emmerdale, thinks the experience will be a real learning curve.
“Doing I’m A Celebrity is one of those things I thought I would never do,” explains the gregarious star. “But all my friends like Biggins and Lorraine Chase have told me how amazing and how life changing it was for them and so I wanted to do it when I was asked.

“I love nature. As a kid we always used to go for walks in the forest and we still do. To see this as well as living amongst it all will be amazing.”

Laughing, she says she thinks the trials will be very tough.

“I am scared of all those things like spiders and snakes,” reveals Vicki. “But my daughter is scared of spiders and I have always said that I must be braver than her. I do think you are a braver person as you get older.

“Having said that, it’s going to be a challenge. Having them all over you will be a different ball game. They are, however, only creatures – and I need to get that into my head!”

“I want to do this challenge for the older women. Don’t write us off!”

“Hopefully I won’t be a wimp. I do think women are fit now. All the knowledge I have gleaned of being older will be put to use!”
For the first time in nearly 25 years, Vicki won’t be starring in a pantomime this year because she wants to throw herself so wholeheartedly into camp life.

“I don’t want to do panto because I do need a bit of self preservation,” she adds. “It will be weird not doing it but I am really looking forward to spending Christmas with my family.

“I am going to be totally me in the jungle and I think the only time I might act is when you have to do something you don’t want to do like a trial.”

Lack of food, she says, doesn’t faze her too much. “Rice and beans is going to be bl**dy boring and it’s rubbish food but the great thing is I am getting paid to lose weight!” chuckles Vicki. “Going in the jungle is a great Christmas diet!”

Laughing, the fun actress says she was so determined not to let news of her going in the jungle get out before arriving in Australia that she only told her husband at the very last minute. “I actually only told my daughter I was going on I’m A Celebrity at first,” explains Vicki. “I didn’t tell my husband because I knew he would find it hard keeping a secret. He would have told all his friends!

“When I did tell him, he said ‘what are you doing Vicki?!’ He knows I am mad! He lives with me. But he is always supportive of whatever I want to do. My daughter is really proud and my family are proud.”

Although at the age of 63, Vicki is one of the older contestants, she says she doesn’t mind not having to wear make-up. “I’ve never had anything done,” she says proudly. “No botox, fillers, nothing.

“I am the kind of person who is always on the go and I see this experience as an adventure. I know the trials are going to be horrendous and they (producers) are quite mean to think them up! But it makes great telly and I love watching I’m A Celebrity.”
Will she stick up for her fellow contestants? “Yes if someone is getting to me, I will say something,” she replies. “If they are starting to p**s me off then I will tell them. It is better to get it off your chest and I will tell them they are upsetting someone. But when you are tired and you haven’t eaten this can be tough.”

To win I’m A Celebrity would be amazing, declares Vicki. “I’d be the Queen Vic,” she says, laughing as she does. “But can you imagine if I did? It would be fabulous.

“This show will be life changing and I know my fellow actors will say good on you.”

As for whether the slim actress will be donning a bikini – it’s a definite no.
“I don’t do bikinis,” she reveals. “And I am not wearing a bikini in the jungle. Let’s not compete with the younger ones!
“This is all going to be so much fun and I want to have a laugh. It’s a great opportunity and you don’t know where it will lead to.”
