About Face (Warner 1952, Gordon MacRae, Eddie Bracken)
A comic musical about the capers of three cadets finishing their final year at Southern Military Institute, this film is a remake of “Brother Rat.” Tony, Boff, and Dave are pushed to the limits of their ingenuity as they attempt to pursue secret romances outside the confines of the academy, steer the school baseball team to victory, and somehow manage to pass the class of the priggish Lieutenant Jones. Boff is actually married to his flame, a fact that becomes more difficult to hide from the Institute when she becomes pregnant with their child.
About Face is the film debut for future Cabaret star Joel Grey, father of Jennifer Grey.
