Could publishing ever have been this glamorous? Or heartless? Women publishing executives try to have it all in ’50s New York in The Best of Everything. Joan Crawford is tailor-made as the steely boss unnerved by her affair with a married man, and cult-fave former model Parker adds a glossy sheen. Based on Rona Jaffe’s novel.
Joan Crawford’s role as Amanda Farrow, the steely executive, is similar to her work as a board member of Pepsi-Cola. She joined the board after husband Alfred Steele, the company’s chairman, died in 1959.
