Bowfinger (Universal 1999, Steve Martin, Eddie Murphy)
Bobby Bowfinger (Steve Martin) is a Hollywood movie producerdirector but down-on-his-luck. When a friend writes the script for a science-fiction film, Chubby Rain, Bobby is convinced that it will be a blockbuster and bring him fame and fortune. However, a producer (Robert Downey Jr) agrees to finance the film only on the condition that A-list star Kit Ramsey (Eddie Murphy) is signed to play the lead and when Ramsey refuses, Bowfinger is determined that he will be part of the film with his permission or not.
With the help of the cheapest team he can put together, including an aspiring actress desperate to be in the movies (Heather Graham), a slightly over-the-hill diva (Christine Baranski), Ramsey’s twin brother (Murphy in a dual role) and a lowly gofer from a major studio, Bowfinger films an oblivious Ramsey as he contrives a chain of situations guaranteed to gain a reaction in the quest to create his masterpiece.
Oz’s film contains laugh-out-loud situations and with its larger-than-life characters is a funny and fresh satire.
