Deathtrap (Warner 1982, Michael Caine, Christopher Reeve)
Director Sidney Lumet’s film version of Ira Levin’s hit play. Michael Caine and Chrisopher Reeve star in this mystery comedy about a playwright who can no longer write a hit show and is now dependent on his shrewish wife. When he comes across a brilliant thriller by an ex-student who is now a novice playwright, he and his wife decide to do away with the young man and take credit for his work. Plenty of twists and turns.
Director Sidney Lumet and writer Jay Presson Allen, who worked together on Deathtrap, had previously collaborated on the films Just Tell Me What You Want (1980) and Prince of the City (1981), a film that earned them an Academy Award nomination.
