Duel in the Sun (TCF 1946, Joseph Cotton, Jennifer Jones)
In Selznick’s amour fou of a Western Duel in the Sun, two brothers become bitter rivals after a beautiful half-Indian woman comes to live on their sprawling ranch.
Niven Busch wrote the novel on which the movie was based in anticipation that his wife, Teresa Wright, would play the role of Pearl Chavez. The role eventually went to Jennifer Jones, later wife of producer David O. Selznick.
