A dark, brooding western that transplants a revenge fantasy more typical of noir to the Wild West. Kirk Douglas plays a U.S. marshal who traces the man who raped and killed his wife to Gun Hill only to discover he is the son of a good friend (Anthony Quinn) who will stop at nothing to prevent the marshal from bringing his boy to justice.
John Sturges, the director of Last Train from Gun Hill, is known for Westerns such as Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1957) and The Magnificent Seven (1960).
