Midnight Story, The (1957, Tony Curtis, Gilbert Roland)
Tony Curtis stars as Joe Martini, a San Francisco cop who is so determined to find the killer of the priest who raised him that he quits the force to launch his own investigation. Suspicion centers on Sylvio (Gilbert Roland), a close friend of the dead man; Joe accepts an invitation to move in with the suspect and his alluring cousin, Anna (Marisa Pavan), hoping he’ll be able to prove that Sylvio is innocent. Happily, he finds that the older man has an alibi for the night of the murder, and he falls in love with Anna. Then, on the couple’s wedding day, a terrible secret is revealed.
Marisa Pavan, the lovely Sardinian-born female lead, was the sister of actress Pier Angeli and the wife of French acting great Jean-Pierre Aumont.
