Muppet Christmas Carol, The (1992, Michael Caine, Steven Mackintosh)
This musical film version of Charles Dickens’s classic story stars members of the Muppet gang alongside Michael Caine as Ebenezer Scrooge. Scrooge, a miserly old curmudgeon, is visited on Christmas Eve by three ghosts that remind him of past love and loss and warn him of his potentially dire future if he doesn’t change his ways. Kermit the Frog plays Bob Cratchit, Scrooge’s long-suffering employee; Miss Piggy is Mrs. Cratchit; the Great Gonzo plays Dickens. The movie, the fourth Muppet feature, is directed by Brian Henson, son of the late Muppet creator Jim Henson.
The Muppet Christmas Carol, is the first Muppet production in which Kermit and the gang play characters other than themselves, like real actors.
