North to Alaska (TCF 1960, John Wayne, Stewart Granger)
Director Henry Hathaway and John Wayne seem to have a rollicking good time winking at their rough-and-tough western images with uproarious comedy North To Alaska.
Having struck it rich in the goldfields of Alaska, Wayne heads to Seattle for supplies and to pick up his partner Granger’s fiancee. Discovering her married already, he heads to a brothel to select a substitute (Capucine). Along the way, they fall in love, which sets off a battle royal upon their return to Nome.
North to Alaska co-star Capucine was a lovely haute couture model who became a protege of agent/producer Charles Feldman. She had a brief Hollywood career after which she retreated to Lausanne, Switzerland.
