Professor Beware (Paramount 1938, Harold Lloyd, Phyllis Welch)

This madcap comedy stars Harold Lloyd as an absentminded archaeology professor. His generosity to a needy gangster gets him in trouble with the law, and he goes AWOL from the Egyptian expedition he’s meant to be heading to find a lost tablet. Two bums (Walburn and Stander) and a young beauty (Welch) help the bumbling genius save the day.

Delmer Daves, who helped write the script for Professor Beware, later became a director, making such films as Destination Tokyo (1943) and Broken Arrow (1950).
