Tattered Dress, The (Universal 1957, Jeff Chandler, Philip Reed)

Jeff Chandler stars as James Gordon Blane, an attorney who finds trouble in a small Nevada town when he defends a wealthy playboy accused of murder (Philip Reed). Michael and Charleen Reston (Reed and Elaine Stewart) hire Blane after Michael is suspected of killing a bartender–and Blane wins the case. But the local sheriff (Jack Carson) wants revenge after the ‘not guilty’ verdict, and he plots a seedy scheme to nail Blane for crimes he didn’t commit.

The Tattered Dress costar Elaine Stewart had a short career on TV game shows 10 years after starring in her last film. In the 1970s, she appeared on Gambit and High Rollers, two shows executive produced by her husband, Merrill Heatter.
