The Upside (2019, Bryan Cranston, Kevin Hart)
The Upside, based on 2011 French original The Intouchables, is a comedic look at the relationship between a wealthy paraplegic and a unemployed man with a criminal record who is hired to help him.
The Intouchables was hugely popular, winning eight César nominations in the process. The Upside has had a somewhat troubled journey to the screen. Made by the Weinstein company and originally set for release in late 2017 but the Harvey Weinstein scandal meant it was left on the shelf. A buyout of the Weinstein Library of movies by Lantern Entertainment meant that it did get a release early January 2019.
