Viceroy’s House (2017, )

In this period drama, based on the true story, it is 1947 and Lord Mountbatten assumes the post of last Viceroy, charged with handing India back to its people, living upstairs at the house which was the home of British rulers, whilst 500 Hindu, Muslim and Sikh servants lived downstairs.

The same period of Mountbatten’s life was previously dramatised in 1986 mini-series Mountbatten: The Last Viceroy.
