Widows (2018, Viola Davis, Elizabeth Debicki)
Based on the 1980’s classic TV series written by Lynda La Plante, Widows is set in contemporary Chicago, amidst a time of turmoil, where four women with nothing in common except a debt left behind by their dead husbands’ criminal activities take fate into their own hands and conspire to forge a future on their own terms.
Director McQueen has assembled an excellent cast for this homage to the original series. Ann Mitchell who played the original lead Dolly Rawlins (here renamed Veronica) evens scores a little cameo.
