Fourteen million global homes watched the “1923” season two finale within its initial seven days on Paramount+. This figure marks the highest viewership ever recorded for a single episode of the series on the service.

The main news is that the final episode of the Dutton family drama’s second season pulled in an immense audience for Paramount+. The show, set nearly a century before the events of Yellowstone, stands as a key piece in that sprawling Western universe.

At its core, “1923” follows a generation of the Dutton family as they face the challenges of the early 20th century, including historical events like the Great Depression and Prohibition. The show features major stars Harrison Ford as Jacob Dutton and Helen Mirren as Cara Dutton, leading the family through hardship and conflict on their Montana ranch.

Providing context for this success, the season two finale’s 14 million viewers represent a significant jump from the season one finale, which gathered 10 million viewers. This means the show’s viewership grew by 41% between its two closing episodes. Social media engagement also saw explosive growth, generating 163 million views for the second season, an eight-fold increase from the 21 million views for the first season.

This strong performance places “1923” among Paramount+’s most successful shows globally, ranking within its top three alongside titles such as “Landman” and “Tulsa King.” Season two followed plot threads involving Jacob and Cara facing a difficult winter and threats to their land, while a separate storyline saw Spencer (Brandon Sklenar) try to get back home to protect his family, and Alexandra (Julia Schlaeplaer) search for him overseas. Both seasons one and two aired on Paramount+, with the first running from late 2022 into early 2023, and the second airing from late February to mid-April in 2025. The series is from Taylor Sheridan, who also serves as an executive producer.
