20/20: Driven to Death: ABC News Reports on a South Carolina Murder Plot Involving a Body Transporter and a Coroner

20/20 Driven to Death

An all-new episode of 20/20 will report on a South Carolina murder case involving a missing father, his body-transporter ex-girlfriend, and her married lover, a local deputy coroner. The two-hour special, titled “Driven to Death,” is reported by correspondent John Quiñones and airs Friday, October 17, on ABC, streaming the next day on Disney+ and Hulu.

The investigation began when 46-year-old Greg Rice was reported missing by his ex-girlfriend, Meagan Jackson, after he failed to pick up his children. Jackson, who worked transporting the deceased for funeral homes, initially told police she had not seen Rice on the night he vanished. Investigators soon discovered digital evidence and surveillance footage that contradicted her story.

The case grew more complicated when police uncovered Jackson’s affair with Deputy Coroner Chris Dontell. Weeks after Rice’s disappearance, his body was discovered in a river. According to ABC News, items found with the body led authorities to a new witness, turning the missing person case into a full-blown murder investigation.

Viewers will also hear from Savannah, the daughter of Meagan Jackson and Greg Rice, and the woman who discovered Rice’s body.
