ABC’s 20/20 returns with another dose of true crime, this time digging into a case that starts with a seemingly straightforward murder and spirals into a tale of secrets, lies, and shocking revelations.
When insurance salesman Bob Eidman is found dead in his St. Charles, Missouri office, the initial assumption is a simple robbery gone wrong. But as authorities dig deeper, they unearth a hidden world of clandestine affairs and large sums of cash stashed within Eidman’s seemingly mundane workspace. Suddenly, the case transforms from a simple whodunit to a complicated whydunit, with motives as murky as the Missouri River on a foggy morning.
Suspicion quickly falls upon Eidman’s wife, Diane, after she reveals a startling family secret. This revelation paints a more intricate picture of the victim, raising questions about his past and the potential enemies he may have made along the way.
But as with any good mystery, things aren’t always as they appear. Just when the finger of blame seems firmly pointed at Diane, cutting-edge DNA evidence emerges, throwing the entire investigation into disarray. The truth, it turns out, is far more unexpected than anyone could have imagined.
ABC News correspondent Chris Connelly reports on the case, which includes interviews with police officers Dean Mayer, detectives Don Stepp and Stefanie Kaiser, Sgt. Billy Wilcox, and Eidman’s family members.
20/20 airs Friday, February 7, 2025, from 9:01-11:00 p.m. EST on ABC and streams the next day on Hulu.
