On Friday evening, ABC will broadcast “Finding Tamika,” an all new episode of “20/20,” looking into the disappearance of 24-year-old singer Tamika Huston from Spartanburg, South Carolina.
The episode centers around the mysterious disappearance of Tamika Huston, who went missing and sparked a concerned search by her friends, family, and the community. Her aunt, Rebkah Howard, a public relations expert, struggled to attract national media attention to the case, believing it exemplified the “missing white woman syndrome,” a term denoting the disparity in coverage between missing women of color and white women.
As the police investigate, a local woman claims to have had a vision and offers her assistance. A breakthrough comes when Tamika’s abandoned car is discovered, with a set of keys inside that play a crucial role in unraveling the mystery.
The episode includes interviews with figures such as actress and activist Erika Alexander, host and creator of “Finding Tamika,” an Audible original series on the case, as well as Tamika’s family, friends, and authorities involved in the search.
20/20: Finding Tamika airs Friday, September 27, 2024, at 9:01 p.m. EDT on ABC and will be available for streaming the next day on Hulu.
