20/20: Unholy Matrimony (ABC, Friday, March 28, 2025)

ABC’s “20/20” digs back into a case that proves the most placid surfaces can hide turbulent depths. Airing Friday, March 28, this two-hour edition revisits the story of Robert and Sabrina Limon, a couple whose seemingly stable life in a close-knit California community was ripped apart by murder.

On the surface, things looked okay. But underneath, there was an open marriage agreement, and for Sabrina, a secret affair with firefighter Jonathan Hearn. When Robert Limon was found shot dead in his workplace, investigators began untangling the web of relationships. The focus inevitably turned toward Sabrina and her lover, Hearn.

What followed was a procedural narrative staple: the lover turning state’s evidence. Jonathan Hearn, facing his own charges, cut a deal and testified against Sabrina, painting a picture of a deadly conspiracy born from infidelity. Hosted by Deborah Roberts, this “20/20” episode walks through the events leading to Robert’s death, the investigation that followed, and the courtroom drama that ensued.

The program includes perspectives from key figures, featuring an interview with Sabrina Limon’s current appellate attorney, Valerie Wass, who is actively working to overturn the conviction. We also hear from family members caught in the crossfire, like Sabrina’s sister, Julie Cordova, and Robert’s sister, Lydia Marrero. Adding context are insights from law enforcement, including former Kern County Detective Darin Grantham, attorneys connected to the case, and journalists who covered the story as it broke. This is a repeat airing of an episode originally broadcast on April 7, 2023.
