PBS is set to air the 36th annual National Memorial Day Concert live from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol on Sunday, May 25 at 8:00 PM, continuing one of the public broadcaster’s most enduring live-event franchises.
Tony winner Joe Mantegna and Emmy winner Gary Sinise are back to co-host the primetime special, which combines music, remembrance, and military tributes in front of a live crowd in Washington, D.C.—a production that’s become a tentpole for PBS’ holiday programming slate.
Produced by Capital Concerts, the event leans heavily on personal stories from veterans and Gold Star families, paired with orchestral performances and appearances from marquee music talent. The National Symphony Orchestra will perform under the baton of conductor Jack Everly.
The annual concert remains a key piece of PBS’ live-event strategy, drawing a broad audience and syndication value while doubling down on its public service remit around civic holidays.
