There is a brand new episode of 48 Hours on CBS on Saturday night, “The Bathtub Murder of Kendy Howard,” examines the mysterious death of Kendy Howard, who was found dead in her bathtub with a gunshot wound to the head.
The investigation begins as former state trooper and Kendy’s husband, Dan Howard, alerts sheriff’s deputies to the tragic scene. Dan claims that Kendy took her own life, but the absence of his prints or DNA on the gun found in the bathtub raises questions. Kootenai County sheriff’s detective Jerry Northrup expresses early on that “it looks odd.”
Strange details emerge: a packed duffle bag, a clothes dryer full of clean bath towels, and Dan’s recent shower and change of clothes. All these factors, combined with Dan’s unique knowledge of crime scenes, lead retired Kootenai County sheriff’s detective sergeant Ken Lallatin to suspect foul play. “Dan knows things like killing someone and staging it to look like a suicide,” Lallatin reveals.
Three years after Kendy’s death, Dan Howard is charged with her murder, and the episode looks into the intricate details of the investigation and the case built against him.
48 Hours: The Bathtub Murder of Kendy Howard airs Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 10:00-11:00 PM ET/PT on CBS.
