CBS’s long-running true-crime series 48 Hours will examine the case of an Indiana woman accused of murdering her husband, a death she insists was a tragic accident. The episode, titled “A Death in the Stairwell,” is set to air on Saturday, October 11th, and features reporting from correspondent Peter Van Sant.

The case centers on Alison Davis, who reported finding her husband, Kevin Davis, with fatal injuries at the bottom of their home’s staircase in New Haven, Indiana. Alison Davis has consistently maintained that her husband’s death was the result of a fall.

However, local police reached a different conclusion following an autopsy. Citing what they described as inconsistencies in the evidence, authorities charged Alison Davis with murder. The prosecution’s case and the subsequent legal battle will be a central focus of the broadcast.

Van Sant’s report includes interviews with key figures from both sides of the case. Viewers will hear from New Haven police chief James Krueger and prosecutor Tesa Helge. The broadcast also features Alison Davis’s father, Steve Krause, and her defense attorneys, Andrew Baldwin and Maxwell Wiley, along with competing testimony from medical experts.

48 HOURS airs Saturday October 11, at 10/9c on CBS.
