CBS’s “48 HOURS” returns this Saturday with a case that trades the usual romantic entanglements for a different kind of familial knot: the kind tied with accusations of murder. “The Farris Wheel” spins a yarn of betrayal and blame within the confines of a Cherokee County, Georgia farm, where the death of a husband and father has left a family fractured and pointing fingers.
Correspondent Peter Van Sant secures a jailhouse interview with Melody Farris, convicted of the crime. But Melody’s version of events throws a wrench in the seemingly settled case. She claims her son, Scott, is the real killer. Scott, unsurprisingly, offers a vehement denial.
So, where does the truth lie? “The Farris Wheel” attempts to negotiate this maze of conflicting accounts, taking viewers to the scene of the crime and speaking with key players on both sides of the story. Defense attorneys, Cherokee County prosecutors, and the detectives and intelligence officers involved in the original investigation all weigh in.
“48 HOURS: The Farris Wheel” airs this Saturday, April 26th at 10:00 PM ET/PT on CBS.
