The upcoming episode of “48 Hours” on ID investigates the intriguing case of Kouri Richins, a Utah mother and children’s book author who finds herself at the center of a murder investigation following the death of her husband.
Kouri Richins, a mother of three from Utah, captured the attention of the nation when she was charged with the murder of her husband, Eric Richins. The charges came over a year after Eric’s death on March 3, 2022, which was initially believed to be a result of an apparent overdose.
However, suspicions arose, and Kouri found herself in a dire situation. Prosecutors built a case alleging that Kouri had a sinister motive: they accused her of lacing Eric’s drink with fentanyl, leading to his fatal overdose. Adding to the complexity of the case, it is also alleged that Kouri was involved in an extramarital affair and was facing significant financial debt. As a result, she now stands accused not only of murder but also of forgery and insurance fraud.
The episode will feature jailhouse recordings of Kouri proclaiming her innocence and expressing her concerns about her defense team being “forced” to withdraw from her case. Hosted by Maureen Maher.
