The season 8 premiere of 9-1-1, titled “Buzzkill,” will air on ABC on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 8:00 p.m.
The 118 team, including fan-favorite characters such as Angela Bassett’s LAPD Patrol Sergeant Athena Grant-Nash, Peter Krause’s Bobby, Oliver Stark’s Buck, and Ryan Guzman’s Eddie, will face an unusual emergency when a trailer carrying millions of bees crashes in Los Angeles, unleashing a swarm. This unique disaster will set the tone for the season’s exciting and unexpected storylines.
The season opener will not only focus on the team’s efforts to contain the bee disaster but also explore the personal lives of the characters. With Bobby retired, Buck struggling, and Eddie mourning, the episode will look into their individual journeys. This includes Buck’s relationship with Tommy and Eddie’s home life, where he faces the aftermath of kissing a woman who resembles his son’s late mother.
As the bee disaster unfolds, a new crisis will emerge by the end of the first hour, leading into the next two episodes. This second crisis takes inspiration from 1970s disaster films and involves a character from Athena’s past.
