ABC is planning another crossover event, this time between 9-1-1 and Doctor Odyssey. Angela Bassett’s character, Athena, will appear on Doctor Odyssey on March 20, putting her back on a cruise ship – hopefully with a better outcome than her last disastrous voyage.
Here’s the Lowdown: The crossover, airing March 20, will be part of Doctor Odyssey’s “Casino Week.” Athena, an unexpected guest, suspects two passengers are planning to rob the ship’s vault. She teams up with Max (Joshua Jackson) to stop them. This follows a previous 9-1-1 storyline where Athena and Bobby (Peter Krause) had their honeymoon interrupted by pirates and a shipwreck. Both shows were co-created by Ryan Murphy. The midseason return of 9-1-1, is on Thursday, March 6, 8/7c, with Doctor Odyssey following at, 9/8c.
What This Means Now: Viewers can look forward to seeing a familiar face from 9-1-1 in a new setting. It’s not the first time the 9-1-1 universe has crossed over as Oliver Stark, Aisha Hinds, and Ryan Guzman have guest-starred on 9-1-1: Lone Star. 9-1-1 characters have also crossed paths with characters from The Bachelor.
The Bigger Picture: ABC is actively building its interconnected 9-1-1 universe. This crossover is another way to link the shows, and a new spinoff set in Nashville has recently been announced, planned for the 2025-2026 season. The cross-pollination of characters and storylines creates a larger, shared world for fans to enjoy.
