This week’s Before the 90 Days is a doozy. “Catch 22” doesn’t disappoint in the drama department, serving up a cocktail of awkward encounters, relationship implosions, and enough manufactured tension to fuel a small country.
The long-awaited meeting between Sunny and Rory finally happens, and let’s just say it’s about as comfortable as a root canal. The potential for a volcanic eruption is high, and I, for one, am here for it. Speaking of eruptions, Joe pulls a disappearing act the morning of his flight to see Magda. Did he develop a sudden case of cold feet, or is there something more sinister afoot? The mystery deepens.
Meanwhile, Brian and Ingrid’s trip to Recife is a study in how not to handle a burgeoning relationship. Their dynamic continues to evolve in ways that make me question the very fabric of reality. Over in the land of strained interactions, Vanja’s attempt to decipher Božo by meeting his friends is a textbook example of a reality TV trope that almost always backfires spectacularly.
In other news, Loren meeting Faith’s family injects a healthy dose of familial awkwardness into the mix. Steel yourselves for tense conversations and enough forced smiles to break a jaw.
This weeks episode is a messy, complicated tapestry of questionable choices and emotional outbursts, and frankly, it’s exactly the kind of trash TV I live for. Tune in to see if anyone manages to emerge from this wreckage with their dignity intact. Spoiler alert: they probably won’t.
