The brand new true-crime documentary series A Killer Makes a Call premieres on Channel 5 on Tuesday 21 May 2024. The first episode, investigates the disturbing case of David Twigg’s murder, exploring the events that unfolded after a distressed 999 call was made by his partner, Julie Dixon.

On March 13, 2011, Julie Dixon frantically called emergency services, reporting that masked men had attacked her and David, and that he was locked in a storeroom set on fire. Despite the fire brigade’s efforts, they couldn’t save David, and his murder shocked the quiet Lincolnshire village of Burgh Le Marsh.

As friends and family rallied around the traumatised Julie, police began their investigation, facing pressure to quickly catch the culprits. Although Julie provided detailed descriptions of the attackers and events, the case proved challenging, leading investigators to re-examine the incident, starting with the 999 call, which took an unexpected turn.
