AACTA Nominated Film “A Savage Christmas” on Binge

New Australian film “A Savage Christmas” has been nominated for a 2024 AACTA Award for Best Indie Film and is set to premiere on the streaming platform BINGE on Friday, December 15th. The film tells the story of a dysfunctional family coming together to celebrate Christmas in regional Australia, and is described as a modern love story about identity and family.

The film, which is a Roaring Entertainment production presented by Screen Australia and Screen Queensland, features a cast including Thea Raveneau, Darren Gilshenan, Helen Thomson, and Gary Sweet, with guest stars Rachel Griffiths and Charlotte Chimes.

Alison Hurbert-Burns, BINGE Executive Director and Foxtel Group Content and Commissioning, commented on the film, praising its unique take on the classic Christmas comedy format with a distinctly Australian perspective. The film is directed by Madeleine Dyer, who has previously worked on the popular comedy series “Colin From Accounts.”
