ABC Australia Scores Four Wins at New York Festivals, Including Gold for Jackman-Narrated ‘Megafauna’ Doc

Australian TV News

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation is riding high after picking up four international trophies at this year’s New York Festivals TV and Film Awards, including a top-category Gold Tower for its science doc Megafauna: What Killed Australia’s Giants?, narrated by Hugh Jackman.

The win marks a high-profile moment for the broadcaster’s internal science unit, with the project claiming the Gold in Science & Technology—one of the competition’s marquee fields.

Scripted also got a look-in: Blackfella Films’ political drama Total Control (Season 3) added a Bronze Tower in the Drama category to its awards haul, continuing its run as one of the ABC’s highest-profile prestige plays.

The network also notched recognition across its factual slate. Endemol Shine Australia’s Headliners, spotlighting disabled musicians including Elly-May Barnes, earned a Bronze in Social Issues, while environmental doc The Forest, from Windfall Films, landed a Bronze in the Environment & Ecology race.

All four projects are streaming now on ABC iview.
